 Guided Walk

The first North Pennines Walking Festival took place in 2013 and was planned to celebrate the lesser known work of Albert Wainwright, A Pennine Journey.  The book details the 247 circular route around the entire Pennines that was undertaken by Wainwright in 1938, with memorable walks crossing through the Teesdale landscape.

Each year the festival is has a special theme and programmes a variety of guided walks each day during the week long event, together with a number of special evening celebration activities, making the festival a great attraction for outdoor enthusiasts.  The festival is organised by The Friends of The North Pennines in partnership with a number of other local groups.  Festival goers can take part in short, accessible walks right up to demanding day long expeditions high on the fells in the rooftop of England.

The guided walks are bookable in advance for a small charge.  Click on the link to find out more about the event and discover the festival programme.
